If you’re a night owl―or an exhausted parent―waking up early and actually getting out of bed can seem insanely difficult.
The alarm goes off, but we hit snooze and then worry sleep for the next 15 minutes (or hour) until we finally manage to pull ourselves from our soft, cozy beds.
(Or until we’re awoken by a screaming child demanding breakfast.)
But it doesn’t have to be that way. With the proper wake up early motivation, you can wake up early and start your day with energy and excitement.
Think about it: When you’re genuinely pumped to wake up, like before a trip or special holiday, popping out of bed is no challenge. Even if you’re tired. Even if you’re a night owl. Waking up early is all about mindset (and getting adequate sleep).
And what better way to get pumped than through motivational quotes about the power of waking up early.
Waking up early and starting the day with an intentional and productive morning routine has the power to completely transform your life. But getting up early enough to make time for said routine can be a challenge.
As a lifelong night owl, I struggled with mornings for years. But I’ve found just how powerful an awesome early morning routine can be, especially as a busy working mom of 4 little ones.
Conquering early mornings are well worth it.
MOTIVATIONAL QUOTES TO WAKE UP EARLY
While there are many other fantastic tips to make it easy to wake up, motivational quotes have the power to get us pumped and in the right mindset to start our day with energy. Because we have to want to wake up and to get excited about what that can do for our life.
Let’s dive into my absolute favorite quotes for awesome wake up early motivation!
Morning is an important time of day, because how you spend your morning can often tell you what kind of day you are going to have.
― Lemony Snicket
Preach it, Lemony! I am 100% a believer that our mornings determine our days. Frazzled and stressful mornings means chaotic days. Peaceful and productive mornings means calm and happy days.
Because our morning lay the foundation for the rest of our day. If we start calm and centered, we’re able to handle the curveballs that get thrown our way with much greater finesse.
And when you have kids, the best days are when you wake up before your kids and have intentional personal time before the kids are up. You’ll handle spills, tantrums, bathroom accidents with more patience and grace.
Success comes to those who have the willpower to win over their snooze buttons. ― Unknown
Oh, the snooze button. Either the greatest or worst invention of all time.
I used to love it, frankly, until I realized that it was keeping me from my goals. And let’s be honest: once the alarm goes off, you never fully go back into restful sleep no matter how many times you hit snooze. You’re in a hazy anxious sleep, fighting with yourself about why you should get out of bed, but too tired to do it.
Since you’re half awake anyways, you might as well conquer the snooze button and pop out of bed!
Lose an hour in the morning, and you will be all day hunting for it.― Richard Whately
If I am not up before my kids, I start the day feeling 2 steps behind. And then I spend the rest of the day in a frazzled tizzy just trying to get caught up. Mornings are everything.
How we start our day determines how we create our life. Are you snoozing through your morning…snoozing through your life…and snoozing through your unlimited potential? ― Hal Elrod
Hal Elrod’s book, The Miracle Morning, completely changed my life. It’s what finally took this die-hard night owl and got her waking up at 4:00am to go to the gym. An incredible feat considering when I had to leave for work at 7:00am, I’d wake up at 6:45am. It certainly was a miracle for me!
Life is getting up an hour earlier to live an hour more.― Unknown
To be honest, I feel like this is a massive understatement. Because I feel like when I wake up an hour earlier, I end up with 3 more hours in the day. Waking up before my kids and going through my morning routine, somehow makes me feel like I have more hours in the day to work with. I get more done, I’m happier, and my house and life are much more organized.
There is no better day than today for us to give up who we’ve been for who we can become, and upgrade the life we’ve been living for the one we really want.― Hal Elrod
Yet another great quote from the fantastic master of mornings, Hal Elrod. We can make the decision TODAY to start waking up earlier. And that doesn’t mean we suddenly decide to wake up 2 hours earlier than normal.
Instead, decide today to make a small change. Start with 15 minutes. You can do that. But it just might change your life.
Wake up early and tackle the day before it tackles you.― Evan Carmichael
Never more true than for parents. Because if you wake up to a child demanding breakfast, it can feel like you’re being beaten before you’ve even started your day. Starting te day early means you start the day on your terms, which is extremely empowering.
If you want to be the best, you can’t take the path of least resistance. Every morning, you wake up, and your mind tells you it’s too early, and your body tells you you’re a little too sore, but you’ve got to look deep within yourself and know what you want and what you’re striving for.― Antonio Brown
It’s still hard to get out bed sometimes. But the most effective way for me to win that battle comes down to deciding what I really want.
Before you even set your alarm at night, you should ask yourself “Why do I want to get up earlier?” and really think about how it could change your life. And then when the alarm blares, you can envision the life you want–the life possible with early mornings–and find the power to get out of bed.
You must decide where you are going in the evening, if you intend to leave early in the morning.― Malian Proverb
Another great mindset quote. Envisioning the morning we want, mentally walking through each step or of morning routine before our head hits the pillow will be what gets us out of the mornings.
While I know it sounds cheesy, I have found that envisioning myself popping out of bed with energy and a smile on my face has been super powerful in actually helping me pop out of bed with energy and a smile on my face! We can fake it til we become it.
You’ve got to get up every morning with determination if you’re going to go to bed with satisfaction.― George Lorimer
Another great benefit of early mornings? Being nice and tired come bedtime! Early mornings have meant a big reduction in lying awake for hours at night with my mind racing. Productive days mean better sleep.
Some people dream of success, while other people get up every morning and make it happen.― Wayne Huizenga
When we chip away at our goals every single day, even if it’s just for a few minutes at a time, I firmly believe that we can accomplish incredible things. When we wake up earlier, we are creating a space for ourselves to start working towards our goals each and every day.
If you want to make your dreams come true, the first thing you have to do is wake up.― J.M. Power
We all have unfulfilled dreams–the thoughts about what we could do if only…[insert make believe circumstance]. But the truth is we are capable of more than we believe.
What do you want in life? What unfulfilled dreams just need some time and effort on your part?
Every time you choose to do the easy thing, instead of the right thing, you are shaping your identity, becoming the type of person who does what’s easy, rather than what’s right.― Hal Elrod
And last, but not least, my favorite Hal Elrod quote. This one pierces my heart and motivated me to be better in every aspect of life. And since I know that my mornings are so powerful in determining what I accomplish, the right thing is to wake up early and start my day feeding my soul so that I’m better able to meet the needs of my children, work towards my goals, and do well at my job.
